Today we also made it to the front page of the Chicago Sun Times (the Sunday paper version)! Yesterday it was already available on line. We posted the article under the link section.

It was a very emotional day yesterday. The collection can drive, that soon will be taking place at many schools throughout the city, started at Oscar Mayer, Jeroen’s elementary school. All kids in the Montessori Early Childhood program participated in decorating the collection cans and they worked very hard and were fully committed to help Jasper.
The decorated cans will be distributed throughout Chicago at the local business so all Chicago people can contribute to the cause.
It was very touching to see them work and to hear them talk about Jasper. At some point it was all so overwhelming.
We got a lot of media attention. There was a reporter from ABC 7, a reporter from CLTV and a reporter from the Chicago Sun Times. We are very happy with the results. You can find a link to the videos and the newspaper article on the website (under the links section).
It was the first time I talked to reporters and I was nervous. However, when you speak from the heart, it works out well. I just had to tell my story..
I will tell my story, our story, a million times to everybody who is willing to listen if I have to because it needs to be told. It’s almost unbearable that nobody knows about this disease that makes young children suffer so much.
The children , teachers, dad and moms of Oscar Mayer made my day. Thank you so much!!! Katie Konieczny (principal of Oscar Mayer school): thank you for “lending” them to us for the morning !
Jeroen was very proud to see himself and his classmates on TV. He wanted to watch it over and over.

Wow, it’s really amazing what’s going on at the moment. There are so many people helping us by donating time and/or money and we are really grateful for this!
The reactions to our appeal letters have also been so moving . It warms our hearts and lifts our spirit. Being busy with establishing our foundation and our website gives us a sense of hope.
Jasper is still doing pretty well. He walks with his little walker although he seems to think he can do without it lately. He is happy and works hard during all the therapy sessions. There is even some progress and we nurture that. He is so proud when he accomplish something! We don’t know how long he will stay this way.
Our first fundraiser was a success and good start for all that’s coming.
